Jan Morrison, Executive Director
Janice S. Morrison is a 30-year veteran of independent
and public schools across the country. She has been a leader
in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through
school leadership positions including Director of the Blaustein
Center for Science, Mathematics and Technology, principal
of the middle school at Hathaway Brown School in Cleveland
and principal of the high school at Friends School in Baltimore.
Jan was the founder of the Student Research Symposium, two
Independent Student Research Programs, the president of
the women’s section of NABT, and has served on the executive
steering committees for the SSI in Ohio, Project Discovery,
Great Lakes Science Museum and the Metroparks Rainforest.
Currently she serves as the Senior STEM Consultant for the
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Senior STEM Consultant
for the Texas High School Project, Senior Personnel for
Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering GK-12 grant
and the Research Experiences for Teachers program. Jan is
the on the Board of SEEK-16 and the Pre-AP for Engineering
design team, and she also serves as an advisor for the National
Governor’s Association Innovation America STEM Center grant
program. Jan designed the instructional programs for the
Gates Innovation High School and the Baltimore Freedom Academy
and continues to support new high schools for low-income
students throughout the country. (read

Sonya Pryor-Jones, Cleveland STEM Director
Sonya Pryor-Jones joins TIES as the Cleveland STEM Director
after completing a one-year program of study with The CORO
Cleveland Executive Fellowship. Sonya was 1 of 7 fellows
selected for this civic leadership program, and served as
a loaned executive to several Cleveland organizations over
the course of the year.
Sonya has extensive experience in the education and non-profit
sectors, and her areas of expertise include project management,
family engagement practices, underrepresented populations,
collaborative partnerships, and community organizing. Most
recently she was the assistant director of admission and
director of the Academic Immersion & Mentoring (AIM)
program at Baldwin-Wallace College. Sonya earned her master’s
in education from Cleveland State University, and her undergraduate
degree in international studies with a focus in history
from Kenyon College.

Harry Casey, Program Assistant
Harry Casey joins TIES as research assistant having just
graduated from Hamilton College with an undergraduate degree
in Religious Studies. He has worked with Jan in various
capacities for 18 months, during which time he has filled
a role of general staff support.
